Sha’Carri Richardson leads US to victory in 4×100 relay for first Olympic gold

In Saint-Denis, France, Sha’Carri Richardson secured her debut Olympic gold medal on Friday. She played a crucial role in propelling the American team to victory in the 4×100 relay by overtaking competitors from Britain and Germany in the final leg. The U.S. team clocked in at 41.78 seconds, narrowly beating Britain by 0.07 seconds. Despite encountering difficulties due to two baton changes in the rainy conditions, the British team finished second.
Gabby Thomas contributed to the team’s success by running the third leg, clinching her second gold medal of the Games, in addition to her 200-meter title win. The team was completed by Twanisha Terry and Melissa Jefferson, who respectively ran the first and second legs, with Jefferson having previously won a bronze medal in the 100-meter race.
