Maryland Governor Wes Moore partnered with former U.S. Senator Elizabeth Dole to announce the state’s collaboration with her foundation in assisting military and veteran caregivers. Governor Moore, a former U.S. Army paratrooper and captain in Afghanistan, expressed that joining the Elizabeth Dole Foundation Hidden Heroes campaign will help raise awareness about available resources for families of veterans and expedite access to those resources.

Senator Dole, who founded the foundation in 2012 to support those caring for wounded, ill, or injured veterans, stood alongside Governor Moore during a news conference where they announced Maryland’s involvement in the Hidden Heroes campaign. The foundation aims to assist spouses, parents, family members, and friends of veterans in need.

Steve Schwab, the CEO of the campaign, commended Governor Moore for his efforts in supporting veterans and their families and expressed hope that Maryland’s initiative would serve as a model for other states. Schwab emphasized the importance of a coalition effort in addressing the challenges faced by those assisting veterans.

First Lady Dawn Moore, a military spouse, emphasized the personal importance of initiatives supporting veterans and their families, stating that it is the state’s responsibility to support the entire family unit. She highlighted Maryland’s commitment to actively supporting veterans and their families by participating in the Hidden Heroes campaign.
