A Frontier Airlines flight scheduled to depart from Houston to the Dallas area was abruptly canceled last week, not due to weather conditions, but because one of the pilots was arrested. The pilot, identified as Seymour Walker, was apprehended by Houston police at Bush Intercontinental Airport around 4 p.m. on Thursday, just before boarding was set to begin. Walker, 45, was wanted on an assault-family violence warrant issued by the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport Department of Public Safety.
Houston police reported that Walker was taken into custody without any issues. As of Monday, it remained unclear whether Walker was still detained, as the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport Department of Public Safety had not responded to inquiries seeking comment. Attempts to reach Walker for his statement were unsuccessful.
Frontier Airlines released a statement acknowledging the pilot’s arrest and clarified that the incident was unrelated to the pilot’s job performance. Due to the unavailability of an immediate replacement for the detained pilot, the flight had to be canceled. Passengers affected by the cancellation were provided compensation options, including a full refund, credit, or rebooking on the next available Frontier flight later that evening. Additionally, impacted passengers received a $100 flight voucher and were offered overnight hotel accommodations if necessary.
