A Georgia man, John Donovan Woodbury, 34, from Roswell, faced federal charges for threatening to harm the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Director. Woodbury was arraigned in federal court in Atlanta on the indictment accusing him of threatening to assault, kidnap, and kill FBI Director Christopher Wray. This incident stemmed from threats made on the online message board 4chan where Woodbury disclosed what he claimed to be Wray’s home address, detailing plans to instill fear in the director’s family.
Woodbury’s online posts on 4chan were reported to include violent statements such as references to burning and hanging people, not only directed at Wray but also towards undisclosed individuals. At present, court records indicate that there is no attorney representing Woodbury available for comment.
U.S. Attorney Ryan Buchanan stated his strong stance against threats targeting public servants like Wray, emphasizing the importance of allowing officials to perform their duties without intimidation. Buchanan condemned such actions as unacceptable and emphasized the office’s dedication to supporting public officials in their responsibilities, ensuring they can operate without fear of threats or harassment.
