Key Things to Look Out for on Day Two of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee

The Republican National Convention progressed into its second day in Milwaukee with Donald Trump as the official presidential nominee. Trump, with a bandage on his right ear from an injury during an alleged assassination attempt, energized the audience on the first day. More speakers on Tuesday are expected to highlight his strength and resilience following the incident at a rally in Pennsylvania. One of the speakers to look out for is Nikki Haley, a previous primary rival, added last minute to the schedule.
Haley, a former United Nations ambassador and South Carolina governor, declared her support for Trump two months after ending her own presidential bid. Initially not planning to attend the convention, she decided to speak following the weekend’s events. It is anticipated that Haley will urge party unity in preparation for the upcoming general election against President Joe Biden.
The focus of the second day of the RNC will shift to immigration and crime under the theme “Make America Safe Once Again.” Speakers are projected to discuss the impact of Biden’s immigration policies and to address crime issues related to illegal immigrants. The program may include speeches from family members of victims allegedly killed by individuals in the U.S. illegally.
While the full schedule for the day has not been released, attendees can anticipate announcements later in the morning. In contrast, Biden is set to resume his campaign trail activities in Nevada after a temporary hiatus following the weekend’s events. He will participate in various events, including the NAACP convention in Las Vegas and an economic summit with Rep. Steven Horsford.
During a private call with donors last week, Biden acknowledged his poor debate performance and emphasized the need to scrutinize Trump’s stances, rhetoric, and campaign activities. Despite addressing the private call, Biden characterized Trump as a threat to democratic institutions and stressed the importance of refocusing attention on the president’s policies and actions.
