In Sanford, Maine, two 17-year-old brothers were found deceased in a waterway after failing to come back home, as reported by the Sanford Police Department on Monday. The teens had gone swimming at Springvale’s Holdsworth Park recreation area, and concerns were raised when they did not return home. Their bodies were recovered from the Mousam River at 11 p.m. on Sunday, although their identities have not been disclosed.
This incident marks the second suspected drowning over the holiday weekend in Maine. Another tragic event took place on the Fourth of July when a New Hampshire man, Edward Berke, fell overboard from a boat in Casco Bay. Despite an overnight search by the Coast Guard, operations were halted the next day without locating the missing individual.
