Ellen DeGeneres is “done” with TV-fame: “This Is the last time you see me!”

Ellen DeGeneres is ready to walk away from show business. The 66-year-old comedian said she’s ‘done with being in the public eye’ and will never be seen on stage or TV anymore. The only exception will be her Netflix comedy special which comes out later this year and is already filmed.

DeGeneres made the declaration at her comedy show in Santa Rosa, California on July 1: ‘This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done,’ she said according to SFGate. When a fan asked her if she will at least have her voice-overs in ‘Finding Nemo’ continuing, she replied: ‘No, I’m going bye-bye. You will never see or hear me again!’

DeGeneres just ended her ‘Ellen’s Last Stand Up Tour’. She even canceled four shows without explanation.

Her eponymous talk show ended in May 2022 after 19 seasons following a lot of media attention regarding toxic workplace claims. Current and former staffers talked anonymously about being mistreated on the set – DeGeneres had to apologize and drew a lot of negative media coverage.

At her last show in Santa Rosa, she addressed the topic: ‘I got kicked out of show business for being mean,’ she told the public. ‘I can be demanding, impatient, and tough – but I am not mean.’

DeGeneres also said: ‘The hate went on for a long time and I would try not to look at the news. I became the most hated person in America.’

The Netflix special with DeGeneres was already announced in May and will be aired at the end of the year. ‘Yes, I am going to talk about everything – and yes, this is my last special. You will never see me again!’
