Donna Osborne, a 75-year-old great-grandmother from Pennsylvania, recently completed radiation treatment for breast cancer before winning $5 million on a scratch-off lottery ticket. She purchased the winning ticket, a $50 “Monopoly Own It All” scratch-off, at a convenience store in Lancaster County after her family trip to Florida was canceled due to multiple flight delays. Osborne decided to go home instead of waiting at the airport like her daughter, leading her to buy the ticket.
After scratching the ticket in the store parking lot, Osborne was shocked to discover she had won the top prize. Excitedly, she asked the store clerk to verify her win. Osborne, a long-time lottery player, called her daughter with the news, who initially didn’t believe her. Osborne has been playing the lottery for about 50 years and has no plans to retire soon, as she enjoys staying active.
Despite her big win, Osborne is considering investing some of the money and then embarking on a trip to Alaska. She has worked for many years providing transportation for the Amish community and finds fulfillment in staying busy.
