Two individuals have lost their lives and three others have sustained injuries during what authorities are calling a domestic violence episode at a residence in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. Responding to a disturbance report early on Sunday, Vermont State Police arrived at the scene approximately an hour south of the U.S.-Canada border. They discovered one man fatally shot and multiple individuals wounded. The deceased individual, identified as Nicholas Johnson, 42, with no permanent residence, had been residing recently in the St. Johnsbury region. Law enforcement classified his death as a homicide.
The injured parties were transported to medical facilities. Ben Lyons, 21, a resident of the house, succumbed to a neck stab wound at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, as stated by the police. Another injured man received treatment for severe yet non-life-threatening knife injuries, while a woman sustained minor wounds and did not require hospitalization.
Two dogs were also attacked, resulting in the death of one at a local animal medical center. The other canine is in critical condition at a canine trauma facility in Massachusetts, according to officials. Two minors aged between 12 and 18 were present in the residence during the incident, and fortunately, they were unharmed, police reported.
Authorities highlighted that all individuals involved are from the St. Johnsbury area.
