Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff has been diagnosed with COVID-19, although he is experiencing mild symptoms, his office disclosed on Sunday. His wife, Vice President Kamala Harris, has tested negative for the virus and is not showing any symptoms.
According to Emhoff’s spokesperson, Liza Acevedo, the second gentleman is fully vaccinated and has received three booster shots. Despite being asymptomatic, he is working remotely and isolating at home as a precautionary measure.
Harris underwent COVID testing on Saturday as a safety measure, with the test coming back negative. She is set to participate in a campaign event for President Joe Biden in Las Vegas on Tuesday.
This is not the first time Emhoff has tested positive for COVID-19, as he had previously contracted the virus in March 2022. Likewise, Harris had tested positive for COVID-19 the following month.
President Joe Biden also battled COVID-19 in July 2022, and experienced a rare “rebound” case when he tested positive for the virus again just over three days after being cleared from isolation following treatment with anti-viral medication.
