A groundbreaking moment is coming this spring as six women go to space aboard Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin rocket. The mission, announced Thursday, will mark the 11th human flight for the New Shepard program and feature a star-studded all-female crew.

“I’m so afraid, but I’m also so excited about it,” King said. “I just thought what a unique opportunity.”
Lauren Sánchez, who previously expressed interest in leading an all-female mission, is seeing her dream take flight. As more women go to space, the mission represents both a symbolic and literal leap toward inclusion in the final frontier.

The New Shepard rocket will carry the crew beyond the Kármán line — the 62-mile boundary that defines the edge of space. The suborbital journey will last around 11 minutes, offering passengers breathtaking views and a few moments of weightlessness.
New Shepard operates without a pilot and returns to Earth using parachutes for a controlled landing near Van Horn, Texas. The reusable rocket system is named after Alan Shepard, the first American in space.
