Weinstein reacts to Brody’s Oscars speech mentioning his kids

Harvey Weinstein has responded to Adrien Brody’s Oscars speech, where the actor referenced Weinstein’s children with ex-wife Georgina Chapman.

Brody, 51, won his second Best Actor award for The Brutalist at the 2025 Academy Awards. During his six-minute acceptance speech, he praised Chapman and her children, India, 14, and Dashiell, 11.

“I share this with my amazing partner, Georgina,” Brody said. “She has not only reinvigorated my own self-worth but my sense of value and my values—and her beautiful children, Dash and India.”

Brody also revealed the nickname the kids have for him, adding, “It’s been a roller coaster, but thank you for accepting me into your life, and Popsy’s coming home a winner.”

Weinstein Breaks His Silence

Weinstein, currently serving a lengthy prison sentence at Rikers Island, reacted to Brody’s speech through a spokesperson.

“Harvey is happy for Georgina and grateful that his kids are being loved and cared for as they deserve to be,” his rep told The Post.

Brody and Chapman’s Relationship

Brody and Chapman’s romance became public in early 2020. They made their red carpet debut as a couple at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival.

Chapman, the founder of Marchesa, was married to Weinstein from 2007 until 2017, when she left him following the wave of sexual assault allegations against him. Their divorce was finalized in 2021.

Brody’s Record-Breaking Speech

Brody made history with the longest Oscars acceptance speech, clocking in at six minutes—rivaling the length of his three-and-a-half-hour film.

During his speech, he reflected on his career and what the award meant to him.

“No matter where you are in your career and what you’ve accomplished, it can all go away,” Brody said. “And I think what makes this night most special is the awareness of that and the gratitude that I have to still do the work that I love.”

The Viral Gum Moment

As Brody’s name was announced, he embraced Chapman and his co-stars before heading to the stage. However, in a moment that quickly went viral, Brody spat out his gum and tossed it to Chapman before beginning his speech.
