US LIVE reports: Firestorm leaves shocking devastation in its wake

The infernos in Los Angeles have left entire neighborhoods decimated, with scars visible across the city. High in the steep hills of Pacific Palisades, the fire showed no mercy, reducing a luxurious villa to ash.

Just days ago, its residents were enjoying the pool and breathtaking views of the sprawling metropolis.

Cars burned during the chaotic escape of the residents in the firestorm

Now, a single pink sandal, seemingly belonging to a little girl, floats in the pool amid clumps of ash. The once-majestic $5.8 million home, with four bedrooms and 320 square meters of living space, has been reduced to little more than a thin layer of ash. Only the chimney remains, standing as a grim reminder of what once was.

A Bird’s-Eye View of Destruction

From this vantage point, the full scale of the “Palisades Fire” catastrophe becomes chillingly clear. The skyline of Downtown Los Angeles looms in the distance, while closer to the hills, patches of destruction scar the densely populated areas. In some streets, only a few buildings burned—almost as if by random chance. In others, not a single structure remains, including the “Marquez Charter Elementary” school, one of many educational facilities reduced to rubble.

The fire decimated houses along the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.

The devastation stretches for miles. Entire hillsides have been stripped of vegetation, leaving a barren, blackened landscape. Official reports confirm that 86 square kilometers have been consumed by flames. What makes this fire a disaster of historic proportions is the sheer number of residential areas affected. Over 5,000 buildings have been destroyed in Pacific Palisades and Malibu alone, with thousands more lost to the other four major fires ravaging the region.

Firefighters Make Progress Amid the Ruins

After three days of relentless destruction, the thousands of firefighters on the ground are finally making headway. The last active hotspots are now confined to inaccessible canyon areas. Even the NASA-affiliated “Jet Propulsion Laboratory” on Mount Wilson was successfully protected from the flames.

For most of the displaced residents, however, the hardest journey lies ahead. Many must now return to the ruins of their homes, reduced to ash, and begin the painful process of rebuilding their lives.

A City Under Siege

Meanwhile, Los Angeles has taken on the atmosphere of a city under siege. Fearing looting, the National Guard has been deployed, with Humvees blocking streets in Santa Monica. The city faces a long and arduous recovery, overshadowed by the trauma of a firestorm that no one will soon forget.

A Hauntingly Clear Sky

On the third day of this fiery disaster, the skies over the Pacific Ocean are eerily clear. Only ocher plumes of smoke drift out to sea, tinting the sun a deep red. The sight is hauntingly beautiful—a stark contrast to the destruction left behind.
