US airstrikes hit several locations in Syria, resulting in the deaths of as many as 35 ISIS fighters.

The U.S. military has conducted multiple airstrikes against Islamic State camps in Syria this week, resulting in the deaths of approximately 35 militants, according to a statement from U.S. Central Command on Wednesday.

These targeted airstrikes took place on Monday evening in the central desert region of Syria, focusing on several locations linked to senior leaders of the militant group. This military action follows a series of collaborative efforts with Iraqi forces aimed at eliminating IS militants within Iraq.

Pentagon officials have acknowledged that while the Islamic State group continues to pose a threat in the region, its power has significantly waned compared to a decade ago when it was able to rapidly advance and seize control over extensive areas in both Iraq and Syria.

U.S. Central Command emphasized that the recent operations in Syria are anticipated to hinder the capabilities of the group to plan, organize, and execute attacks targeting civilians, as well as U.S. and coalition forces operating in the area. Additionally, they noted that there were no signs of civilian casualties resulting from these airstrikes.
