Ashley Zook, who took to Snapchat , said: 'I was just in a plane crash. Oh my god.'
A Delta Airlines flight crash-landed at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday, leaving at least 15 people hospitalized, including a child in critical condition.
The aircraft, a Bombardier CRJ-900 operated by Endeavor Air, was carrying 76 passengers and four crew members when it flipped upon landing. Officials have not confirmed the cause, but strong crosswinds reaching 40 mph may have contributed.
Shocking images show the plane upside down on the ice-covered runway as stunned passengers evacuated. Survivor Ashley Zook took to Snapchat, exclaiming, “I was just in a plane crash. Oh my god.”
Rescue teams rushed to the scene, spraying foam to prevent a potential fire. While a small fire appeared to ignite upon impact, it was quickly extinguished.
Toronto Pearson Airport confirmed the crash on X (formerly Twitter): “Emergency teams are responding.”
Canada’s Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation, with U.S. FAA investigators also en route. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stated he is in contact with Canadian authorities to assist in the probe.
The Association of Flight Attendants confirmed its crew members were onboard and urged the public not to speculate. “Reports are there are no fatalities. Please allow authorities to gather information and support those involved.”
Ontario Premier Doug Ford expressed gratitude that there were no fatalities. “I’m relieved there are no casualties after the incident at Toronto Pearson,” he wrote on X.
Meanwhile, Air Canada warned passengers to check their flight status due to ongoing airport disruptions.
This marks at least the fourth major aviation incident in North America within a month, raising fresh concerns about airline safety.
