Ukraine targets Russian oil depot, Trump promises quick end to war

Ukraine’s military announced a strategic strike on an oil depot in Russia’s Bryansk region, triggering a massive fire and escalating tensions in the ongoing war. The depot fuels a key pipeline supplying Russian military operations, marking another high-stakes attack in the 34-month conflict.

Fire Engulfs Key Russian Oil Facility

The Ukrainian General Staff confirmed the overnight drone attack on Wednesday, with footage showing towering flames at the Bryansk site. While Bryansk Governor Alexander Bogomaz admitted the facility was hit, he claimed the fire was extinguished and reported no casualties.

The depot services the Druzhba oil pipeline, a vital Soviet-era conduit transporting oil from Siberia and the Caspian Sea to Europe. Although the pipeline escaped damage, the attack underscores the increasing vulnerability of Russia’s energy infrastructure amid the conflict.

Missile Strike Hits Russian Port

In another bold move, Ukraine targeted the Taganrog port on the Azov Sea with missile strikes. Acting Rostov Governor Yuri Slyusar reported significant damage, including 14 cars catching fire. The port, near a key Russian airbase, is believed to support drone and bomber operations against Ukraine.

Zaporizhzhia Suffers Deadly Attack

Meanwhile, in the contested Zaporizhzhia region, a Russian strike on a medical clinic and office building left at least seven dead and 22 wounded, including a five-year-old girl. Rescue efforts continue as victims remain trapped under rubble.

War Reaches Potentially Dangerous Phase

As the war nears its three-year mark, officials warn it could be entering its most perilous phase. Russian forces are advancing in eastern Ukraine at unprecedented speeds, while Ukraine deploys high-precision missile systems in retaliatory strikes.

Trump Vows to End War in 24 Hours

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has pledged to make resolving the Ukraine-Russia conflict a top priority. Speaking to Paris Match, Trump criticized the staggering human toll and reiterated his campaign claim of ending the war “within 24 hours” through negotiations.

“Both those countries are losing numbers that nobody can believe. Hundreds of thousands of soldiers are being killed,” Trump said. “I think we have to solve the Ukraine problem with Russia.”

As the conflict escalates and diplomatic efforts remain stalled, Trump’s impending leadership could significantly influence the war’s trajectory. Whether his bold promises will materialize, however, remains to be seen.
