Trump supports proposal to distribute a portion of DOGE savings to U.S. citizens

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump expressed his support for the notion of distributing a portion of the savings generated by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to American citizens as a form of financial dividend.

At an investment conference held in Miami on Wednesday, Trump revealed that his administration is mulling over a proposal in which 20% of the savings achieved through DOGE’s fiscal initiatives would be allocated to U.S. residents, while another 20% would be directed towards reducing the national debt.

He further articulated that this potential for dividend payments could encourage individuals to identify and report instances of government waste. “They’ll be reporting it themselves,” Trump remarked. “They participate in the process of saving us money.”

As he returned to Washington aboard Air Force One, Trump responded to inquiries from reporters regarding Musk’s proposal. “I love it,” the Republican president affirmed to those on the plane.

Just a day prior, Musk had taken to his social media platform to declare that he would “check with the President” regarding discussions about a “DOGE Dividend.” This initiative would reportedly provide a reimbursement to taxpayers derived from some of the savings produced by DOGE, which has already resulted in the termination or layoff of thousands of federal employees.
