Donald Trump is set to return to New York as the campaign season heats up, with plans for a rally at the famous Madison Square Garden.
Scheduled for October 27, this event is aimed at energizing his supporters right before the critical final week of campaigning, as disclosed by a campaign official who requested anonymity prior to the formal announcement.
This will mark Trump’s second rally in his hometown, following an earlier event in the South Bronx that attracted a large and varied turnout back in May.
He also hosted another rally on Long Island just last month.
During a recent rally in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Trump stated, “We have some very big ones coming. We just rented Madison Square Garden. We’re going to make a play for New York.”
He also noted that his team is considering renting venues in other locations like Atlanta, Georgia, and New Jersey.
Despite New York’s strong Democratic leaning and his history of losing the state by more than 20 points in the last two elections, Trump expresses confidence in his chances.
He enjoys organizing events that attract significant media coverage, particularly in venues with a well-known reputation like Madison Square Garden.
While he navigates through critical battleground states such as Pennsylvania and North Carolina, he is also making stops in places that are not necessarily seen as competitive.
On Friday, Trump plans to visit Aurora, Colorado, a city that has recently become central to discussions concerning the influx of migrants.
In the 2020 election, Democrat Joe Biden captured Colorado with 55% of the votes.
This summer, the mayor of Aurora reiterated claims made by a landlord concerning a Venezuelan gang seizing control of a troubled apartment complex in the area, despite law enforcement’s assertion that this was inaccurate.
Trump and other Republican leaders have been quick to rally around these claims, with Trump mentioning during a Fox News town hall that Venezuelans were “taking over the whole town.”
He promised his rally audience that, if elected, he would send federal resources to “liberate” the town.
On Saturday, he has a rally scheduled in Coachella, California, a well-known location that hosts a major annual music festival.
Trump has previously lost California in the last two elections by approximately 30 points.
In addition to his efforts in New York, Trump has stated he aims to make inroads in other Democratic-leaning states, including New Jersey, Virginia, New Mexico, and Minnesota.
