Trump Hits Taylor Swift While Honoring Eagles at White House

  • Donald Trump praised the Eagles at the White House and mocked Taylor Swift over the Chiefs’ Super Bowl loss. It was one of many moments when Trump hits Taylor with criticism.
  • Trump reignited his feud with Swift, criticizing her past political endorsements and suggesting consequences for her views. Indeed, Trump hits Taylor once more in their ongoing battle.
  • Several Eagles players, including Jalen Hurts, skipped the visit due to reported scheduling conflicts but were still acknowledged by Trump.

During the Philadelphia Eagles’ visit to the White House to celebrate their 2025 Super Bowl win, President Donald Trump took the spotlight. While he praised the team’s performance, he also made headlines for taking a shot at pop star Taylor Swift. Trump referenced the Eagles’ big win over the Kansas City Chiefs, pointing out that Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, plays for the losing team. This was another instance where Trump hits Taylor while mixing sports, politics, and celebrity all in one speech.

Trump Points Out Swift’s Presence at Super Bowl

Trump told the crowd that he attended the Super Bowl in New Orleans on February 9. It was the first time a sitting president had ever gone to a Super Bowl. He said, “I was there along with Taylor Swift,” and then asked, “How did that work out?” The crowd laughed as he repeated the line again: “How did that one work out?” His tone suggested he enjoyed seeing the Eagles win while Swift watched her boyfriend’s team lose. Trump’s words were another way Trump hits Taylor, reminding people of her connection to the Chiefs.

Former President Revisits Ongoing Feud with Swift

Trump’s comment was not out of the blue. He has taken public jabs at Taylor Swift before. In September 2024, after Swift endorsed his opponent Kamala Harris, Trump wrote on Truth Social, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” He didn’t stop there. The next morning, he appeared on Fox & Friends and said, “I was not a Taylor Swift fan.” He called her “very liberal” and noted she always supports Democrats. Trump even claimed she might lose fans or money for her political views, saying, “She’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.” These statements show that Trump sees Swift not just as a singer but as a political rival.

Trump Gives Eagles Credit for Championship Win

Aside from his comments about Swift, Trump spent time praising the Eagles’ performance in the 2025 Super Bowl. He gave special attention to their bold and controversial “tush push” play. He also complimented running back Saquon Barkley and offensive tackle Lane Johnson. Trump invited Johnson and other players to speak at the podium. His speech focused on the team’s strength, teamwork, and exciting journey to the championship. He described the game as “incredible” and said the Eagles deserved the win. Even with his usual showmanship, Trump made it clear he respected the team’s hard work.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts Skips the White House Event

One major detail caught people’s attention—Eagles quarterback and Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts was not at the White House visit. Hurts wasn’t the only one missing. Wide receivers DeVonta Smith and AJ Brown, along with several defensive players, also skipped the event. Their absence raised questions about whether they chose not to attend or simply couldn’t make it. However, the team and the White House both downplayed the situation. Trump still gave credit to Hurts in his speech, calling him a “terrific player” and recognizing his major role in winning the championship.

White House Says Players Had Scheduling Conflicts

Shortly before the event, NBC News White House correspondent Yamiche Alcindor posted on X that Hurts and other players would not be attending. She said a White House official confirmed they had “scheduling conflicts.” The official made no mention of any political reasons. NBC Philly reporter John Clark also posted on X that many top defensive players were missing. While some fans speculated about hidden motives, most accepted the explanation. The event continued without them, and Trump acknowledged their efforts even though they weren’t present.

Politics, Sports, and Celebrity All in One Speech

Trump’s speech at the White House blended football, fame, and politics. By mentioning Taylor Swift, he added drama and controversy to what was supposed to be a celebration. At the same time, he honored the Eagles and gave them praise for an unforgettable season. His comment about Swift made headlines, but his words about the team reminded fans why they were being celebrated in the first place. Trump once again used a public moment to promote his opinions and take aim at people who oppose him.
