President Trump is making big moves. On Friday, he declared he’s immediately revoking former President Joe Biden’s security clearance and daily intelligence briefings. In a bold statement Trump didn’t hold back, saying, “I don’t trust him.” He even went on to explain that Biden’s actions set the stage for this decision.
Trump took to Truth Social to announce the revocation. He called out Biden for denying him intelligence briefings back in 2021, citing Trump’s “erratic behavior” as the reason. Trump didn’t mince words. “There’s no need for Joe Biden to have access to classified information,” he wrote. “We are revoking his security clearance and halting his briefings immediately.”
This is not just a move in response to Biden’s past actions. Trump is clear in his reasoning. He’s concerned about the security of the nation. “I don’t trust him. He’s not worthy of trust,” Trump said. He made it clear: it’s about national security. Former presidents typically keep access to classified information, but Trump insists Biden shouldn’t.
Biden, now 82, made a similar decision when he blocked Trump from receiving briefings in 2021. The then-president argued that Trump’s behavior – particularly surrounding the January 6th Capitol riot – made him unfit for such sensitive information. Biden told CBS News, “What value is giving him an intelligence briefing? What impact does he have?”
Trump’s move is seen as a response to Biden’s earlier action. The two former leaders have been at odds since Trump left office. But Trump’s decision to revoke Biden’s clearance has a deeper context. It’s about trust and the future of U.S. security.
Trump also referred to the investigation into Biden’s mishandling of classified documents. Former special counsel Robert Hur’s bombshell report revealed that Biden had retained classified materials after his time as vice president. While Hur found Biden had “poor memory,” he stopped short of charging him, citing Biden’s age and history. Trump clearly isn’t satisfied with that outcome.
“The Hur Report showed Biden couldn’t be trusted with sensitive information,” Trump said. “I will always protect our National Security – JOE, YOU’RE FIRED. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
While Biden wasn’t charged criminally, Trump still believes the matter is worth investigating. “If something comes up, he’s certainly prime time for investigation,” Trump added. “It’s not good what he did to our country.”
Trump’s move has raised eyebrows. It’s an unprecedented decision to revoke a former president’s security clearance. But Trump insists it’s necessary to safeguard national security. As tensions between the two leaders continue, the fallout from this bold action is just beginning.
