Trump clear on Drones: ‘The government knows more than they tell us’

President-elect Trump has echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the need for the military to inform the public about the drone sightings. During a press conference in Palm Beach, Florida, he stated, “The government knows what is happening… For some reason, they don’t want to comment. And I think they’d be better off saying what it is our military knows and our president knows.” He further added, “I can’t imagine it’s the enemy,” though he did not provide specific details or confirm whether he had received an intelligence briefing on the matter. 

The lack of concrete information has led to various conspiracy theories. One such theory suggests that the drones might be searching for a missing Soviet-era nuclear warhead feared to be in the U.S. This idea, proposed by John Ferguson of Saxon Aerospace, has gained traction, especially after being discussed by influencers like Joe Rogan and Jason Calacanis. 

However, experts like Tyler Rogoway, editor-in-chief of military news website The War Zone, have dismissed this theory as “fiction,” pointing out that manned aircraft are typically used for such roles to avoid risks to civilian air traffic and those on the ground.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul has requested federal authorization for local police departments to shoot down the drones, stating, “This has gone too far.” Similarly, President-elect Trump has suggested that if the public is not informed promptly, action should be taken against the drones.
