Trump Burger Sparks Debate Over Politics and Food in Texas

  • Trump Burger chain in Texas draws attention with its strong political branding and patriotic themes.
  • Food critics give mixed reviews, praising some dishes but criticizing the restaurant’s political humor and atmosphere.
  • The chain appeals mainly to Trump supporters, while others find it uncomfortable and politically divisive.

A new restaurant called Trump Burger is gaining popularity across Texas. The chain uses President Donald Trump’s name and themes to attract customers. The décor includes American flags and political jokes, mainly targeting Trump’s Democratic rivals. Several locations have already opened. The restaurant appeals strongly to Trump supporters but faces criticism from others who find the concept offensive or in poor taste.

Lebanese Immigrant Roland Beainy Launches Politically Themed Burger Chain

Roland Beainy, a Lebanese immigrant, created the Trump Burger chain. He wanted to mix food with politics, especially pro-Trump themes. The menu and decorations celebrate Donald Trump’s image and presidency. The restaurant shows a strong nationalist vibe with many references to Trump. This unique approach sets it apart but also divides opinions among diners and critics alike.

Houston Food Critic Bao Ong Finds Politics Overshadow the Food

Bao Ong, a restaurant critic for the Houston Chronicle, visited the Trump Burger in Houston. He described the restaurant as a shrine to Trump, filled with merchandise like “Trump 2024 The Revenge Tour” hats and red T-shirts with the phrase “You’re fake news!” The logo features a burger with golden hair, mimicking Trump’s hairstyle. Ong said the intense political atmosphere made it hard to simply enjoy his meal. A Trump impersonator approached him during lunch, which added to the unusual dining experience.

Mixed Opinions on Food Quality at Trump Burger

Ong gave a mixed review of the food. He called the signature Trump Burger bland and said the Philly cheesesteak had stingy portions. However, he praised the “First Lady Chicken Sandwich,” noting the grilled chicken was juicy and topped with American cheese. He also liked the milkshake, especially because it used Blue Bell ice cream, a Texas favorite. The milkshake’s simple, classic recipe matched the restaurant’s strong American theme.

Eater Houston Critic Brittany Britto Garley Criticizes Brutish Humor

Brittany Britto Garley from Eater Houston was more direct in her criticism. She made clear she does not support Trump. Garley called the restaurant’s humor “brutish,” saying it targeted Trump supporters with inside jokes. She described the menu as political commentary, not just food choices. For example, the “Biden Burger” (named “Harris Burger” in Houston) has a tiny patty and “old tomato,” mocking inflation and political rivals. The burger costs $50.99, but staff said it is just a joke.

Atmosphere Feels Unwelcoming to Critics and Minorities

Garley said the restaurant tries hard to create a patriotic vibe but fails. She found the atmosphere stiff and uncomfortable, especially as a woman of color. The strong pro-Trump theme alienated her and likely others who do not share those political views. Garley warned that this restaurant appeals mainly to Trump voters and supporters of his policies, making it a tough place for many others to feel welcome.

Trump Burger Seen as Endorsing Controversial Political Views

Garley wrote that eating at Trump Burger feels like supporting Trump’s legacy. She mentioned issues like deportation, division, and actions that harm equality and opportunity. For people who disagree with Trump’s policies, dining here may feel like endorsing harmful rhetoric and decisions. The restaurant’s political theme makes it much more than just a place to eat.

Trump Burger Official Responds to Criticism, Blames Media Bias

A Trump Burger spokesperson spoke to Fox News Digital about the mixed reviews. The official said the criticism was expected because many news outlets lean liberal. They claimed the Houston Chronicle and others showed bias against anything connected to Trump. The spokesperson defended the restaurant’s theme and said supporters enjoy the experience.
