Trump wants to sign 200 executive orders after swearing-in ceremony

On Sunday, President-elect Donald Trump engaged in several significant activities leading up to his inauguration.

He began the day with a private breakfast alongside Republican senators at Blair House, the presidential guest residence near the White House. Later, Trump took to his social media platform to comment on pressing matters, including the Israel-Hamas ceasefire and the federal ban on TikTok.

Trump Vows to Restore TikTok Access

Millions of TikTok users in the U.S. lost access to the platform overnight as a federal ban on the app, citing national security concerns, took effect. ByteDance, TikTok’s China-based parent company, issued a direct appeal to Trump, expressing gratitude for his willingness to seek a resolution.

Trump responded by urging companies to ensure TikTok doesn’t remain offline. He pledged to issue an executive order on Monday to extend the compliance period, allowing more time for a potential agreement. Additionally, he floated the idea of a U.S. ownership stake in TikTok through a “joint venture” model, though details remain unclear.

Honoring the Fallen at Arlington National Cemetery

Later in the day, Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance visited Arlington National Cemetery. In a solemn moment, the pair laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier while taps played. Trump, dressed in a dark overcoat and red tie, mouthed “thank you” after placing the wreath.

The two leaders then visited Section 60, the resting place for military personnel who died in Afghanistan and Iraq, where they spent time speaking with families of soldiers who perished in the 2021 Kabul airport bombing.

A Contrast in Behavior

Sunday’s respectful visit to Arlington stood in stark contrast to an incident last August when members of Trump’s campaign team reportedly clashed with cemetery staff over filming and photography in Section 60. The solemnity of the occasion underscored Trump’s efforts to project unity and honor sacrifices as he prepares to take office.
