This Mariah Carey’s Christmas classic continues to break records and bank big bucks

Mariah Carey (55) has achieved what few artists can: creating a timeless hit that remains a global phenomenon decades after its release. Her holiday classic “All I Want For Christmas Is You” continues to shatter records nearly 30 years after its debut, earning the singer millions in the process.

First released in November 1994, the song has become a staple of the holiday season. Whether playing in department stores, on the radio, or at Christmas markets, it’s impossible to escape its festive charm. With over 800 million views on YouTube and more than 3.2 billion streams worldwide, Carey’s evergreen hit remains a powerhouse. In Germany alone, the song has been streamed 260 million times.

A Financial Goldmine

The financial success of “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is just as impressive as its popularity. Reports from Sony Music estimate that the song has generated around $80 million in revenue since its release, with that number continuing to climb. Annually, Carey and her co-writer Walter Afanasieff rake in between $600,000 and $1.2 million from the song, thanks to streaming platforms, sales, and licensing deals. Experts predict that if the duo ever sold their rights to the track, it could fetch up to $80 million.

Celebrating 30 Years of Christmas Magic

To mark the 30th anniversary of the song, Mariah Carey has announced a digital reissue of her iconic holiday album “Merry Christmas.” Reflecting on her success, the pop icon joked, “I’m no numbers expert, but I’m so grateful to my fans who celebrate Christmas with my music every year.”

Carey’s net worth, estimated at €290 million, continues to grow, with her earnings for 2024 alone reaching around €25 million. With over 16 million singles sold worldwide, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” shows no signs of slowing down. Experts estimate the track generates up to $4 million annually, even as streaming services dominate the music industry.

Mariah Carey’s Christmas empire truly is the gift that keeps on giving!
