The number of fatalities in Vietnam storm increases to 87, with 70 individuals still unaccounted for, reports state media

In HANOI, Vietnam, the death toll from Typhoon Yagi and subsequent heavy rain has risen to 87, with 70 individuals still missing and hundreds wounded. Typhoon Yagi, the most potent storm to hit Vietnam in many years, struck on Saturday with wind speeds reaching up to 149 kph (92 mph). Initially claiming nine lives, the typhoon weakened on Sunday. However, persistent heavy rainfall led to floods and landslides, exacerbating the situation.
According to Vietnamese state media, 87 individuals have lost their lives, and 70 are unaccounted for. The majority of fatalities were attributed to the floods and landslides triggered by the extreme weather conditions.
