“The Ghost of Christmas Past”: Biden’s bad hair day at tree lighting ceremony draws wild memes and comments

President Joe Biden had a hair-raising experience during the annual White House Christmas tree lighting ceremony, held on a blustery night in Washington, D.C.

Stepping onto the Ellipse outside the White House South Lawn, Biden braved the frigid winds to light the towering 30-foot red spruce, sourced from Virginia’s Mount Rogers National Recreation Area. But it wasn’t just the festive glow that captured attention—it was the president’s windswept hair, which became an unexpected focal point for social media hilarity.

Social Media Reacts to Biden’s Windswept Look

One viral photo showed Biden’s hair resembling a bright white mullet, sparking a flurry of jokes online. “Biden’s entire presidency summed up in a hairdo,” quipped one commenter on X. Another compared his disheveled locks to “me trying to get through the day.”

Adding to the humor, a photoshopped image depicted Donald Trump yelling “You’re fired!” as he blew Biden’s hair into chaos, with others joking, “Even Biden is getting the Trump hair.”

A Festive Tradition Amid Political Drama

This marked Biden’s first major appearance since his controversial pardon of son Hunter Biden for gun and tax crimes. The ceremony, however, remained focused on the holiday spirit. Biden expressed his wish for the nation, saying, “May we continue to seek the light of liberty, love, kindness, and compassion.”

Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff attended the event, though First Lady Jill Biden was notably absent as she promoted her women’s health initiative in Qatar.

The president led the countdown before the tree lit up in a cheery green hue. Musical performances by stars like Trombone Shorty and Trisha Yearwood added to the festive ambiance.

A Legacy in Transition

The ceremony comes during Biden’s final holiday season as president. With Donald Trump set to assume the presidency in January after defeating Kamala Harris, Biden faces the challenge of navigating the transition while grappling with the fallout from recent decisions, including pardons and political reshuffling.

Amid swirling political winds and literal gusts in Washington, Biden’s appearance highlighted both the enduring tradition of the tree lighting and the unpredictable nature of his presidency.
