A bizarre crime spree unfolded in Texarkana, Texas, where a man on a 4-wheeler deliberately attacked Tesla vehicles, leaving a trail of destruction. The rampage began when Demarqeyun Marquize Cox allegedly slammed his ATV into a red Tesla parked outside the Golden Palace Chinese buffet.
Security footage and Tesla’s built-in camera caught the shocking moment, leading to Cox’s arrest. The video clearly shows him reversing and ramming the vehicle.
Police later discovered that Cox continued his spree, targeting another Tesla parked at a Lowe’s nearby. A third vehicle was also found damaged, each one scratched with the word “ELON,” indicating a deliberate attack on Tesla.
The vehicles suffered thousands of dollars in damage. One owner, Virita Carstaffin, said she received an alert from her Tesla app during lunch and returned to find her car smashed and defaced.
After the Tesla attacked alert was reviewed, police were able to locate Cox just over a mile away. When questioned, he gave officers a fake name. However, the evidence was overwhelming.
“He tried to lie about who he was, but the footage made it clear,” said Officer Shawn Vaughn.
Cox was booked and held on $105,000 bond. Charges include felony criminal mischief and failure to identify.
This isn’t an isolated case. Across the country, multiple incidents have surfaced where Teslas were vandalized or set on fire. In recent months, arson attacks, political graffiti, and threats have increased.
The Tesla attacked narrative has become part of a broader trend, with some blaming Elon Musk’s political affiliations and involvement with the Trump administration.
U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi recently charged three individuals in separate Tesla-related incidents with domestic terrorism.
Police are asking Tesla owners to stay vigilant. Authorities believe that the anti-Tesla sentiment is gaining traction online and warn that more organized attacks may follow.
Though Cox currently faces charges for damaging just one vehicle, investigators expect additional charges as the case develops.
The vandalism has left residents shaken, especially given the public nature of the attacks. Still, officials credit Tesla’s advanced video system for aiding in a swift arrest.
