Taylor Swift expresses sorrow over canceled shows in Vienna and clarifies reasons for her lack of communication

Two weeks after the cancellation of her concerts in Vienna due to a thwarted terror plot, Taylor Swift has broken her silence on the matter. The singer expressed her devastation in an Instagram post on Wednesday, mentioning how the reasons behind the cancellations stirred up fear and guilt for her, given the expectations of numerous fans who were planning to attend the shows.
She expressed gratitude towards the authorities, acknowledging that their actions prevented potential harm and loss of lives, allowing the focus to be on missed concerts instead. Swift explained that she chose to withhold comments until the conclusion of her European tour to prioritize the safety and well-being of her fans.
Swift clarified her decision to remain silent following the cancellations, stating that she refrained from making public statements to avoid provoking any individuals with malicious intentions towards her audience.
Amid the aftermath of the canceled gigs, Swift’s representatives had been unresponsive to requests for comments from various news outlets, and her social media activity had been minimal.
The singer emphasized the importance of timing in addressing the issue and ensuring the safety of her fans during the European tour. She expressed relief at completing the tour without any incidents, emphasizing the significance of restraint and choosing the appropriate moment to communicate.
The concert organizer, Barracuda Music, had announced the cancellation of the three-night Vienna concert series scheduled to commence on August 8 due to the proximity of arrests related to the terror plot. Authorities uncovered a plan by a 19-year-old suspect to target the audience outside the Ernst Happel Stadium using weapons or explosives with the intent of causing harm to as many people as possible. The suspect, along with a 17-year-old accomplice, was apprehended on August 6, a day before the shows were called off, while another suspect, aged 18, was arrested on August 8.
