Adan Manzano, a reporter covering the Super Bowl in New Orleans, died on Wednesday
A suspect has been arrested in connection with the death of Kansas City reporter Adan Manzano, who was in New Orleans covering the Super Bowl.
Telemundo KC confirmed on Thursday, Feb. 6, that the 27-year-old anchor and reporter had passed away.
On Friday morning, Kenner police announced the arrest of Danette Colbert, of Slidell, after she was caught allegedly using Manzano’s credit card at multiple stores in the New Orleans area.
Investigators reviewed security footage showing Colbert with Manzano on the morning of Wednesday, Feb. 5. She was later seen on video leaving his hotel room. Manzano was found unresponsive in his Kenner hotel room shortly afterward.
As of now, Colbert has only been booked on property crimes, including fraud and theft-related offenses. Police say she has a criminal record that includes past arrests for allegedly drugging men, stealing cash, and fraudulent use of credit and debit cards.
Authorities continue to investigate Manzano’s cause of death as they determine whether additional charges will be filed.
