Supreme Court Excludes Green Party Presidential Candidate Jill Stein from Nevada Ballot

The Supreme Court has dismissed an urgent appeal from the Green Party in Nevada, pushing to include presidential candidate Jill Stein on the election ballot in the key battleground state. The court’s decision, issued on Friday without any dissenting opinions, permits election officials in Nevada to continue preparing and printing ballots without featuring Stein and other Green Party contenders.
This ruling is seen as a win for the Democrats who opposed the Green Party’s presence on the ballot in a state known for its fiercely contested statewide elections. In the 2020 election, President Joe Biden outperformed former President Donald Trump in Nevada by just under 35,000 votes.
The state’s Democratic party had taken legal action to remove Stein from the ballot after the Green Party garnered enough signatures for her inclusion. Initially, a lower state court ruled in Stein’s favor, but the state Supreme Court later determined that the petition forms were flawed.
Representing the Green Party at the Supreme Court was Jay Sekulow, an associate of Trump and a member of the president’s legal team during his initial impeachment trial.
Meanwhile, a coalition of Republican political strategists, attorneys, and their supporters are working nationally to influence the upcoming election in ways that benefit Trump. Their strategy involves promoting third-party candidates such as Stein and Cornel West as alternatives for liberal voters, aiming to divert support from Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris.
