Steven Spielberg’s upcoming film featuring Josh O’Connor and Emily Blunt scheduled for June 2026

Steven Spielberg is preparing to helm a new movie featuring Josh O’Connor and Emily Blunt. The currently untitled “event film” is scheduled for release in theaters on June 12, 2026, as announced by Universal Pictures on Tuesday.

While information about the film remains limited, it will be based on a narrative conceived by Spielberg himself. The screenplay is being crafted by David Koepp, known for his work on hits like “Jurassic Park,” its sequel, “War of the Worlds,” and “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.” Additionally, the cast will include Colman Domingo, Colin Firth, and Eve Hewson.

The summer of 2026 is shaping up to be busy with high-profile projects, such as “Avengers: Doomsday” on May 1, “The Mandalorian and Grogu” on May 22, “Toy Story 5” on June 19, “The Odyssey” on July 17, and “Spider-Man 4” on July 24.

Previously, Universal had intended to release a new film from the Oscar-winning duo of Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert on the same June date, but they have indicated that a new release date for this also untitled project will be announced soon.

Spielberg’s most recent film, “The Fabelmans,” was released by Universal in 2022 and garnered seven nominations at the Oscars, showcasing the continued success and relevance of the legendary director in the film industry.
