Sonograms of flood victim’s son discovered on Connecticut beach miles away from her collapsed home

Devastated by the collapse of her home in the Connecticut flooding, Randi Marcucio received a heartwarming surprise this week when sonograms of her now-3-year-old son, lost during the disaster, were found 30 miles away on a beach in Westport and returned to her. An emergency room nurse and single mom, Marcucio described holding the sonograms as holding a piece of her heart and soul.

The sonograms were discovered by a stranger named Nancy Lewis, who found them on Compo Beach and, after learning of Marcucio’s story, contacted a local news station to facilitate their return. Marcucio expressed deep gratitude and disbelief at the unlikely recovery of the sonograms, emphasizing the significance of the find.

The flooding in Connecticut caused significant damage, leading to the collapse of Marcucio’s home, which was captured on video the day after the incident. Fortunately, Marcucio and her son were not present during the collapse, as they were staying with relatives at the time. The support from the community has been overwhelming, with a substantial amount raised through a GoFundMe page and various donations received.

Despite the outpouring of generosity, Marcucio faces uncertainty regarding her insurance coverage for the destroyed home, as it was not in a flood zone, and she lacked flood insurance. Many of her belongings, including sentimental items from her late mother, were lost in the collapse. Marcucio, still reeling from the events, expressed gratitude for the support received and the resilience that has carried her through this difficult time.
