Simone Biles has the chance to increase her collection of Olympic medals in balance beam and floor exercise finals

American gymnastics sensation Simone Biles is gearing up for the final day of competition at Bercy Arena in Paris. Having already clinched three gold medals in the team, all-around, and vault events, Biles is now set to compete in the balance beam and floor exercise finals.
On the balance beam, where Biles is a two-time Olympic bronze medalist and a four-time world champion, she placed second in the qualifying round. Positioned to compete next-to-last in the eight-woman final, she will face tough competition from fellow U.S. gymnast Sunisa Lee and Brazilian standout Rebeca Andrade.
Following the balance beam, Biles will showcase her talents on the floor exercise, an event where she has maintained an unbeaten record in major international competitions, including a gold at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics eight years ago.
With 10 Olympic medals under her belt, including seven golds, Biles has the opportunity to make history by surpassing Vera Caslavska for the second-most medals by a female gymnast in Olympic history, trailing behind Larisa Latynina’s 18 medals.
By securing two more gold medals, Biles could tie for the second most gold medals in Olympic history across all sports; a feat achieved by legendary athletes such as Paavo Nurmi, Mark Spitz, Carl Lewis, and Katie Ledecky. Michael Phelps currently leads with 23 gold medals.
While Biles has kept her future plans relatively private, she hinted at a potential return for the Olympics in Los Angeles. After winning her second Olympic vault title, she mentioned, “Never say never. Next Olympics are at home. So you just never know. I am getting really old.”
