Senator Klobuchar confirms being cancer-free but plans radiation as a precautionary measure post spot removal

U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar announced that she has remained cancer-free after her battle with breast cancer in 2021, but doctors recently removed a small calcification, and she will undergo radiation treatment as a precaution. Klobuchar, a Minnesota Democrat and the chair of the Rules Committee, had previously been successfully treated for early-stage breast cancer three years ago. She shared that her cancer was detected during a routine mammogram and was classified as stage 1A, confined to the breast. Treatment involved a lumpectomy and radiation therapy, with sessions scheduled around her busy hearing schedule concerning the January 6 insurrection, even following the passing of her father.
Following a routine six-month check-up at the Mayo Clinic, Klobuchar informed on X (formerly Twitter) about the discovery of a small calcification during the recent exam. She underwent a successful minimally-invasive outpatient procedure to have it removed, and as a precautionary measure, she will undergo a few days of radiation treatment this month. The senator relayed her doctor’s confirmation that she is currently cancer-free and emphasized the importance of regular screenings, exams, and follow-ups.
Encouraging others to prioritize their health, Klobuchar underscored the significance of not taking health for granted and urged individuals to seize the gift of each day. Elected in 2006, she is now seeking reelection for a fourth term.
