BISMARCK, N.D. — U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer from North Dakota is recuperating at his home in Bismarck following an accident. The incident occurred over the weekend when the senator slipped on ice.
On Sunday, Cramer, aged 64, was walking around the back of his home when he stepped on a patch of ice, causing him to fall and hit his head. The senator mentioned on social media that his next memory was of arriving at the hospital emergency room with his wife, Kris, by his side.
The medical team diagnosed Cramer with a severe concussion, and he also experienced a seizure along with a slight brain bleed. To treat his head injury, the doctor applied staples before admitting him to the hospital.
“I’ll be taking it day by day this week, though I’m prepared to return to Washington, D.C. rapidly if necessary,” Cramer shared in a post on Monday.
He also uploaded images showing blood smeared across snow and ice along with a photo of the staples in his head. By Tuesday, Cramer updated followers that he was resting at home, under anti-seizure medication, noting, “My head still aches a little, but I’m catching up on sleep.”
Former President Donald Trump took to his social platform on Tuesday evening, expressing, “I believe he will bounce back, yet it was a close call! Get well soon, Kevin, and big thanks to Kris for her prompt and attentive response during Kevin’s tough time!”
A member of the Republican party, Cramer was successfully reelected to a second Senate term the previous year.
Cramer’s office was contacted for comments regarding the senator’s situation.
