Second person apprehended in connection to theft of sword and bullhorn from Rick Pitino’s office

A second individual has been apprehended in connection with the theft of a ceremonial sword and a bullhorn from the office of Hall of Fame basketball coach Rick Pitino at St. John’s University, as reported by the New York City police.
The suspect, a 17-year-old, was taken into custody on Tuesday on charges of burglary and trespassing related to the incident that occurred on August 20. It remains uncertain whether he has legal representation at this time.
Earlier, a 25-year-old named Emanuel Yakubov was arrested on August 23, just a day after police made public surveillance footage displaying two individuals carrying the stolen items through a hallway.
Yakubov faces charges of burglary, petit larceny, trespassing, and possession of stolen property. The Legal Aid Society, representing him, did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Wednesday.
Rick Pitino, aged 71, was appointed by St. John’s last year to rejuvenate a Big East program with a rich history from the 1980s. His extensive coaching career has seen him leading teams at various universities including Boston University, Providence College, the University of Kentucky, the University of Louisville, and Iona University.
