Sean Kingston, a rapper, and his mother face charges of fraud and theft in court

Rapper Sean Kingston, also known as Kisean Anderson, along with his mother, Janice Turner, have both entered not guilty pleas on Monday to charges of defrauding multiple businesses of over $1 million. This plea was made during an arraignment hearing before Broward Circuit Judge Ernest Kollra, as reported by the Sun Sentinel. Their bond remained at $90,000, and no changes were made by Kollra during the hearing.

The charges against Kingston, 34, and Turner, 61, include organized fraud and grand theft. Kingston was initially arrested in Fort Irwin, California, in May, following a raid on his residence in Southwest Ranches by a Broward Sheriff’s Office SWAT team. According to arrest warrants, the duo is accused of defrauding various businesses including a jewelry company, a luxury bed manufacturer, a used luxury and exotic car dealership, and a luxury microLED TV company dating back to October 2023.

The next court appearance for Kingston and his mother is scheduled for October 11. Additionally, they are also facing associated charges in federal court. Kingston rose to fame in 2007 at the age of 17 with the release of his hit single “Beautiful Girls,” which featured lyrics set to the music track of “Stand By Me” by Ben E. King.
