Sally Buzbee, who previously held the position of executive editor at The Washington Post and The Associated Press, is set to join Reuters as the chief editor for the United States and Canada, as announced by the company on Tuesday.
In her new role overseeing news in the U.S. and Canada, Buzbee will succeed Kieran Murray, who has been appointed to lead the company’s live events division.
Buzbee departed from The Washington Post in June after expressing her disagreement with a restructuring plan proposed by the new publisher, Will Lewis, which would have resulted in a significant demotion for her position.
