Prosecutors allege New York City man enticed immigrant women for sexual assault.

A man from New York City has been accused of preying on migrant women in the subway system under the false pretense of offering them employment, according to law enforcement officials. Agustin Diaz faces serious charges including rape, sexual abuse, and stalking, linked to incidents involving at least four women dating back to 2018, as reported by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office.

The 53-year-old resident of the Bronx is said to have specifically targeted newly arrived, Spanish-speaking immigrants. He allegedly approached these women while they were in the subway, asking if they were new to the country and in search of jobs.

Authorities claim that Diaz would hand out business cards along with misleading instructions for meetings regarding potential job opportunities. In various instances, he reportedly led the women to places in the Wall Street area, promising cleaning jobs or similar work. However, the reality was more sinister, as he brought them to secluded locations, such as a basement storage area, where he would assault them.

In one alarming case, prosecutors allege that Diaz threatened one of the victims with a knife and intimidated others by suggesting they could be deported if they chose to report the attacks. The District Attorney, Alvin Bragg, has asked anyone who might have information related to these allegations to step forward, emphasizing that the investigation remains active.

During his arraignment in Manhattan court, a judge ordered that Diaz be held without bail. On Thursday, efforts to obtain comments from his attorney via email were initiated.
