The fire at the 7400 Roosevelt Apartments complex began around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, according to city Fire Commissioner Jeffrey Thompson. Despite the efforts of approximately 140 firefighters who fought the blaze for almost three hours, it was eventually contained.
