Angry LA Residents Demand Mayor Karen Bass Be Recalled Over Wildfires — Petition Soars Past 50K Signatures

Furious Los Angeles residents are demanding the removal of Mayor Karen Bass, blaming her for a botched response to the catastrophic wildfires tearing through the city.

A Change.org petition, launched just days ago, has already gathered over 56,000 signatures. “We urgently call for the immediate recall of [Bass] due to her gross mismanagement and failure to effectively respond to the devastating 2025 fires,” the petition reads.

Adding fuel to the outrage, Bass was 7,400 miles away in Africa, attending Ghana’s presidential inauguration, while flames engulfed neighborhoods back home.

“Families have been displaced, homes destroyed, and livelihoods shattered — yet Mayor Bass has been absent from the frontlines,” the petition claims. It demands a full investigation into why LA was left vulnerable during such a critical time.

Critics are also slamming Bass for her decision to slash $17.6 million from the Los Angeles Fire Department’s budget for the 2024-25 fiscal year, calling it “a bad call” that left the city underprepared.
