Patti Scialfa, wife and bandmate of Bruce Springsteen, discloses cancer diagnosis

Patti Scialfa, the wife of Bruce Springsteen and member of the E Street Band, shared in a recent documentary that she has been battling multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer. The 71-year-old guitarist revealed that she received the diagnosis back in 2018, which has impacted her ability to tour with the band.
Due to the effects of the disease on her immune system, Scialfa expressed the need to be cautious about her activities and travel choices. She mentioned in the documentary titled “Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band” that she occasionally joins the band for a few songs on stage, but her participation is limited compared to before, referring to it as her “new normal.”
A representative for Scialfa mentioned that no further details regarding her current treatment or health status would be disclosed, including whether she is undergoing treatment for the disease. Despite her absence at the film premiere in Toronto, Scialfa has been a vital part of the E Street Band since 1984, when she joined. She tied the knot with Springsteen in 1991 and was honored with induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.
Springsteen himself faced health challenges in the past years, including dealing with peptic ulcer disease and vocal concerns, causing tour postponements. However, the musician is set to perform at a music festival in Asbury Park on September 15, a location deeply intertwined with his musical legacy.
