This win marks the Capitals’ sixth consecutive triumph, showcasing their position as one of the top-performing teams in the league this season.
Ovechkin registered his 22nd goal for the current season, bringing his career tally to an impressive 875 goals, now just 20 shy of Gretzky’s record of 894 goals in the NHL. Meanwhile, goaltender Charlie Lindgren made a notable comeback, saving 22 shots in his first start since January 10, marking his first shutout of the season. This victory also signifies the Capitals’ third shutout in just five games, following impressive performances against Anaheim and Ottawa in the previous week.
