New ABC-Poll shows Kamala in front: Harris leads Trump with 50:45%

In a new ABC poll Kamala Harris is taking the lead in the Presdidential race: She gains up to 15 percentage points to Trump in just one month and turns the race into a 50:45 advantage with a lead in five out of seven sing states.

In an exclusive poll for DailyMail.com, Vice President Kamala Harris has significantly narrowed the gap with former President Donald Trump, though Trump still maintains a slim two-point lead over the new Democratic nominee. The poll underscores the dramatic shift in the race for the White House following President Joe Biden’s decision to step aside.

While other recent surveys have shown Harris gaining momentum, this particular poll of 1,001 likely voters found that 43 percent would vote for Trump if the election were held today, compared to 41 percent for Harris. With a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percent, the race is shaping up to be a close contest as the November election approaches.

A separate online survey explored the factors contributing to Trump’s lead, revealing that voters continue to perceive him as the stronger, more charismatic candidate who is more likely to accomplish his goals.

Conducted by J.L. Partners from August 7 to 11, the poll utilized a combination of online, landline, cell phone, and in-app methods. The results highlight that, despite a challenging period, Trump retains several key advantages.

James Johnson, co-founder of J.L. Partners, noted that while Harris has made significant gains, particularly among young voters and African Americans, Trump remains solid with his base, particularly among white, Hispanic, and older voters. Harris’s support is primarily concentrated among those aged 18 to 49, partly due to Trump’s dominance on issues like the economy and border security.

The poll indicates a tightening race, but Johnson cautions that it is not yet a clear victory for Harris. The vice president’s ability to further appeal to independent voters could be crucial in eroding Trump’s current lead.

Since Biden’s announcement that he would not seek reelection, Harris has experienced a surge in fundraising and poll numbers. The Democratic Party has quickly rallied around her, presenting a united front as she prepares for her first major policy speech in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Harris is expected to address middle-class concerns, such as reducing costs and combating corporate price gouging, and recently voiced her support for eliminating taxes on tips for service workers, a move initially championed by Trump. This policy has received widespread approval from voters, suggesting that it may offset any criticism for adopting a position similar to her opponent’s.
