In Oslo, Norwegian authorities have brought charges against Marius Borg Høiby, the eldest son of the crown princess, encompassing multiple serious offenses such as rape, sexual assault, and bodily harm. These charges follow a detailed investigation into a case involving a considerable number of alleged victims. The 28-year-old son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit, and stepson to Crown Prince Haakon, came into the spotlight after being taken into custody multiple times in 2024 on counts of rape and preliminary charges related to bodily harm and property damage.

Andreas Kruszewski, an attorney with Oslo Police, disclosed that Høiby has been cooperative during the questioning process, which has now concluded. Investigators pieced together evidence from various sources, including text messages, witness reports, and searches conducted by law enforcement. The charges comprised one rape case involving intercourse, two instances of rape without intercourse, four sexual assault cases, and two cases of bodily harm, Kruszewski elaborated during a news conference.

He added, “I am unable to provide further specifics regarding the number of victims, beyond confirming it is above ten.” Defense lawyer Petar Sekulic communicated via email that Høiby is said to be seriously considering the allegations but denies wrongdoing in the majority of cases, particularly those relating to sexual misconduct and violence.

The royal palace commented briefly, indicating that the case is following the appropriate legal channels and that no additional information will be shared at this time. The matter has captured significant public attention in Norway, where the royal family enjoys widespread popularity. Høiby lived with the royal family and two half-siblings, Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus, but currently resides independently nearby, according to Sekulic.

Pending a potential trial, Høiby remains free and is presumed innocent until proven otherwise by the court. Once popularly known as “Little Marius,” Høiby has lived under the public’s watchful eye, benefiting from the same privileges as his royal siblings. His biological father, Morton Borg, has previously served a prison sentence for drug-related and violent offenses. Additionally, Høiby has been open about his cocaine use and struggles with addiction.

Norway’s future queen, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, drew significant media attention in 2001 upon her marriage to Crown Prince Haakon as she was a single mother with a partner who had a criminal past involving drug charges.
