In Tampa, the Buccaneers have announced that Jason Licht, the general manager, and Todd Bowles, the head coach, have been awarded multi-year contract extensions. This decision was highlighted by team owner and co-chairman, Joel Glazer, who emphasized the pivotal roles both have played in the team’s recent triumphs.
Glazer expressed his satisfaction with the development, stating, “The winning culture they have established has us well positioned for the future. The continuity and stability they provide will play a large role in our ability to compete for additional championships.” However, specifics on the extension terms were not disclosed by the organization.
Todd Bowles, now entering his fourth season as the head coach, successfully guided the Buccaneers to secure their fourth consecutive NFC South title during his third year. Bowles ascended to his current role in 2022 following Bruce Arians’ departure after the team’s triumph in Super Bowl LV. Before his promotion, he effectively served as the defensive coordinator for three years. His record includes 27 regular-season wins, making him the franchise’s second-winningest coach within the initial three seasons, only trailing Bruce Arians.
Bowles remarked, “I am excited to continue working with Jason for years to come as we build on the success we’ve enjoyed and keep reaching for even bigger and better goals. My family loves Tampa, and we’re looking forward to delivering more great moments for our fans in the coming seasons.” He further acknowledged the confidence shown by the Glazer Family in his leadership, emphasizing the honor and responsibility he holds.
On the administrative side, Jason Licht steps into his 12th year as one of the league’s longest-serving general managers. His tenure is marked by successful drafts and signings of key players like Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Tristan Wirfs, Vita Vea, and Antoine Winfield Jr. Notably, his efforts were instrumental in bringing Tom Brady to the Buccaneers.
Expressing his gratitude, Licht stated, “I am very grateful to the Glazer Family for the trust and belief they have shown in what we are doing here. I am also very excited to continue working alongside Todd well into the future as we continue our mission of finding and developing talented players and chasing additional championships for our fans.”
