OTTAWA, Ontario — The Ottawa Senators have officially secured defenseman Lassi Thomson’s services for an additional season by signing him to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2025-26 season, the organization disclosed on Sunday.
The terms of the contract stipulate an average annual salary of $775,000 when playing in the NHL, while he will earn $300,000 in the American Hockey League (AHL).
Thomson, who is 24 years old, spent the recent 2024-25 season playing with Malmo in the Swedish Hockey League. During his stint there, he achieved an impressive tally of 17 goals and accumulated a total of 29 points over the course of 50 games.
Standing at six feet tall and weighing 192 pounds, Thomson has made 18 appearances in NHL games. He played 16 of these during the 2021-22 season and took part in two matches during the 2022-23 season, all with the Senators.
In October 2023, Thomson experienced a brief change of scenery when he was claimed off waivers by the Anaheim Ducks on the 1st of the month. However, he was once again reclaimed by Ottawa off waivers shortly after, on October 9, 2023.
Throughout his career with the Belleville Senators, Ottawa’s AHL affiliate team, he has participated in 202 games, scoring 24 goals and amassing 93 points.
Lassi Thomson was Ottawa’s first-round draft pick, selected 19th overall in the 2019 NHL Draft.
