AUBURN, Ala. — Chris Rembert shined with four RBIs as Auburn clinched a spot in the super regionals, defeating N.C. State 11-1 on Sunday night. Adding to the Tigers’ offensive power, Ike Irish slammed a three-run homer in a commanding performance.
Andreas Alvarez excelled on the mound for Auburn (41-18), delivering five scoreless innings, where he conceded just six hits and struck out five opposing players. Cade Fisher took over the pitching duties for the final four innings, securing his second save. Fisher allowed only three hits alongside one run throughout his impressive relief stint.
This triumph marks Auburn’s fifth entry into the super regionals, reflecting their consistent strength. Over the years, the Tigers have made it to the College World Series twice since the super regional setup was introduced and six times overall.
The game’s momentum shifted dramatically in the fourth inning when Auburn unleashed seven runs, featuring Irish’s formidable homer into right field. Rembert contributed significantly with a two-run single during the same inning and followed it up with a two-run double in the fifth. Bub Terrell was another key performer, achieving three hits and driving in two runs, while Chase Fralick contributed with two RBIs.
N.C. State (35-21) had managed to reach the championship round earlier on Sunday by beating Stetson 17-12. Despite their earlier success, the team struggled against Auburn’s dominant play and failed to score until Justin DeCriscio’s sacrifice fly in the eighth inning provided a glimmer of consolation.
Dominic Fritton was on the mound for N.C. State, pitching until the fourth inning and yielding three runs. Following him, Cooper Consiglio pitched 3 1/3 innings, allowing seven additional runs.
