In an exciting development within the fashion industry, esteemed designer Pierpaolo Piccioli has been appointed as the new creative director of Balenciaga—a prestigious fashion house owned by parent company Kering. This announcement comes after Piccioli’s departure from Valentino last year.

He steps into the role previously held by Demna, who made significant waves at Balenciaga since joining in 2015 and has now transitioned to Gucci, also part of Kering’s expanding fashion empire. Starting July 10, Piccioli will oversee Balenciaga’s visions across womenswear, menswear, accessories, and couture at its Paris headquarters.

In a released statement reflecting on his new role, Piccioli expressed deep gratitude and anticipation. “I’m stepping into a brand brimming with potential and rich possibilities. My heartfelt thanks go to Demna, whose talent and vision I’ve long admired. I am truly honored to be part of Balenciaga’s continued evolution,” noted Piccioli.

While Demna has been known for his provocative approach, engaging with social and political discourses through fashion, Piccioli brings a reputation of romanticism, offering a fresh yet nuanced direction for Balenciaga. The shift sets the stage for a fascinating new chapter for the iconic fashion house.
