A Los Angeles judge has issued a restraining order in favor of Halle Bailey, an actor and singer known for her role in “The Little Mermaid.” The order demands her former partner, rapper and YouTube personality DDG, legally named Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., to maintain a distance from Bailey and their 17-month-old son, Halo, until a hearing scheduled for June 6. Bailey has expressed concerns for her safety, citing a history of violence from her ex-boyfriend.

In her court documents, Bailey detailed ongoing physical, verbal, emotional, and financial abuse from Granberry throughout their relationship. She is now seeking measures to safeguard herself and their child from what she describes as his continuous abusive behavior. Attempts to get a comment from Granberry’s representative weren’t successful.

Bailey and Granberry were involved from 2022 until the previous year, with Bailey alleging multiple instances of physical aggression since their breakup. She recounted a specific altercation in January, where Granberry allegedly verbally assaulted her while she was securing their child in a car. This exchange escalated physically, resulting in injuries for Bailey, including a chipped tooth from an alleged assault that involved her head being slammed into a steering wheel. Supporting her claims, Bailey has provided the court with photographic evidence of her injuries.

In another incident in March, Bailey stated that Granberry unlawfully entered her residence in her absence, sending her a photo of her bed with a threatening implication that she was involved with other men. Following this, Bailey recounted an argument with Granberry about their sick child’s visitation, which escalated to him destroying a surveillance device on her property. As a result, a police report was filed by Bailey after she alleges Granberry forcibly took her phone and physically endangered her and their baby by closing a car door on her.

Bailey has also requested the court to halt Granberry’s usage of his Twitch and YouTube accounts to rally his followers against her, claiming his public accusations have led to harassment and threats towards her on social media. This abuse, she asserts, is exacerbated by his portrayal of her as unfaithful and uncooperative regarding their son.

The restraining order also includes provisions preventing Granberry from possessing any firearms. The upcoming court session could extend these protections for up to five years, pending the judge’s decision.

Originating from Pontiac, Michigan, DDG initially gained prominence through video streaming before transitioning to a successful career in hip-hop. His latest album, “Blame the Chat,” dropped on May 5. Meanwhile, Bailey, based in Atlanta, has earned five Grammy nominations and gained initial acclaim as part of the musical duo Chloe x Halle with her sister. Among her notable acting roles was as the star of the comedy series “Grown-ish,” and she recently played the lead in Disney’s live-action adaptation of “The Little Mermaid.”
